The delegation connected Vietnamese industrial parks and businesses with Chinese investors, promoting opportunities for investment, technology cooperation and supply chain linkages.
Strengthening investment and technology links between Viet Nam and China
As part of the 2026 Investment Promotion Programme, the Ministry of Industry and Trade assigned the Viet Nam Trade Promotion Agency (VIETRADE), in coordination with relevant agencies, to organize an investment promotion delegation to China on the occasion of the China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO), from September 16 - 20, 2026. Activities took place in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, with the aim of connecting Vietnamese industrial parks and businesses with Chinese investors and enterprises.
Under the programme, on the afternoon of September 17, the delegation attended the Viet Nam - China Trade, Investment and Technology Cooperation Forum at the CAEXPO International Convention and Exhibition Center, with coordination and support from the Guangxi authorities, the CAEXPO Secretariat, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Entrepreneurs Alliance and Sunwah Group.
The forum was one of the key events of the programme and attracted the participation of leaders from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Viet Nam, the Guangxi authorities, the GBA Alliance and the CAEXPO Secretariat, along with representatives of management agencies, localities, industrial parks, associations and businesses from both countries in sectors including technology, furniture and household goods, pharmaceuticals, finance and banking, and logistics.
Following the forum, Vietnamese industrial parks and businesses were arranged to hold direct business-matching sessions with Chinese investors and enterprises.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan speaks at the forum.
In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan emphasized that Viet Nam and China are neighboring countries with longstanding traditional friendship, while economic and trade cooperation between the two countries has continued to expand and gradually spread into new areas such as high technology, innovation, digital technology and green technology.
In 2025, bilateral trade reached approximately USD 256.5 billion, up 24.8% from 2024, with China remaining Viet Nam's largest trading partner. In the first seven months of 2026, two-way trade reached approximately USD 184.2 billion. During the same period, China registered approximately USD 3.69 billion in investment in Viet Nam and led in the number of newly registered investment projects, with 849 projects.
According to the Deputy Minister, these figures demonstrate that economic relations between the two countries are expanding beyond trade into investment, production and supply chain linkages.
The Deputy Minister also noted that, given its proximity to Viet Nam, Guangxi serves as an important gateway for trade between the two countries and a bridge connecting ASEAN and China.
As Viet Nam implements Politburo Resolution No. 10-NQ/TW on the development of the foreign-invested economic sector, with a focus on attracting high-quality investment linked to technology transfer and participation in supply chains, the Deputy Minister called on both sides to strengthen information sharing and promote direct connections among industrial parks, businesses and investors, with a view to developing specific projects.
He also encouraged Chinese businesses to increase investment in and strengthen production linkages with Vietnamese enterprises. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Viet Nam stands ready to coordinate with Chinese authorities, the Guangxi authorities and relevant organizations to continue serving as an effective bridge for the business communities of the two countries.
Jonathan Choi, Chairman of the GBA Alliance, and a representative of the Guangxi authorities also addressed the forum. As part of the forum, VIETRADE and the GBA Alliance signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in trade promotion. Sunwah Group, Liuzhou Pharmaceutical Group of Guangxi and the Viet Nam Association for Health Promotion and Consulting also signed an MoU on cooperation at the event.
Through presentations by speakers from VIETRADE, the People's Committee of An Giang province and Chinese businesses, participants gained further insights into the investment environment and opportunities in Viet Nam in general and An Giang province in particular. They also learned about Chinese businesses' experience in expanding into the Vietnamese market and carbon-free logistics models in the AI era.
Alongside introductions to the industrial parks and businesses participating in the delegation from the Viet Nam Industry and Trade Development Industrial Parks Club, a roundtable discussion on investment in technology in Vietnamese industrial parks provided an opportunity to exchange views on supply chain relocation trends, Viet Nam's FDI attraction policies, and demand for technology cooperation and innovation between businesses from the two countries.
Expanding links between industrial parks and business communities
Continuing the programme, on the morning of September 18, the delegation attended the 2026 International Cooperation Promotion Conference of the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone. The event brought together representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Viet Nam, the Ministry of Commerce of China, the Guangxi authorities, senior representatives from Malaysia, as well as representatives of free trade zones and industrial parks from China and ASEAN countries.
