Built upon a solid foundation of traditional friendship, mutual understanding and support, the official visit to Russia from March 22 - 25 by the Prime Minister, the first visit by a Vietnamese senior leader to Russia in 2026, holds great significance in further consolidating bilateral ties and promoting international cooperation opportunities to serve national development in the coming period.

Taking place in a particularly significant context, as Vietnam has successfully organized the 14th National Party Congress and elections of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 tenure, the visit demonstrates the strong determination of the entire Party, military and people to accelerate economic development, while seeking continued support and cooperation from international partners, including Russia.

The main focus of the visit is to strengthen and consolidate Vietnam - Russia relations, particularly political ties, while further expanding cooperation in such areas as economy, trade, investment, energy and oil and gas. The two sides are expected to sign a number of important agreements.

Amid global energy security challenges caused by conflicts in the Middle East, the Prime Minister’s visit is expected to help elevate comprehensive bilateral cooperation, especially in energy and oil and gas, laying the groundwork for strategic collaboration in multiple key sectors and creating breakthroughs in a new development era.

This visit to Russia by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh clearly reflects the high regard both countries attach to their comprehensive strategic partnership, for the benefit of their peoples, and for peace, cooperation, stability and development in the region and the world.
