
Vietnam, Cuba strengthen trade ties at first Joint Committee Meeting

On December 3, in the capital city of Vientiane, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone co-chaired the 48th Meeting of the Vietnam - Laos Intergovernmental Committee.
Responding to an invitation from Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh departed Hanoi on December 2 to attend the high-level meeting between the Politburos of Vietnam and Laos, and to co-chair the 48th session of the Intergovernmental Committee from December 2 - 3.
Joining the Prime Minister on this working trip were senior officials, including: Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung, Head of the Vietnam - Laos Intergovernmental Committee; Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien; Minister of National Defence Phan Van Giang; Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung; Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Vietnam - Laos Cooperation Committee Nguyen Van Thang; Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son; Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung; Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh; Minister of Home Affairs Do Thanh Binh; Minister of Justice Nguyen Hai Ninh; Deputy Minister of Public Security Dang Hong Duc; Deputy Chairman of the Government Office Trinh Manh Linh; and Vietnam’s Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam.
During the 48th meeting, the two delegations will review progress made in implementing the agreements under the Vietnam - Laos Cooperation Plan for 2021 - 2025 and for 2025; and discuss orientations and key tasks for the 2026 - 2030 period and for 2026, translating the conclusions of the recent Politburo meeting into concrete actions.
As part of the session, the two sides are expected to sign a number of important cooperation documents, further advancing the strategic direction set out by both Governments for the years ahead.
