(VEN) - Recently, a delegation from the Petrovietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV GAS), led by General Director Pham Van Phong, held a working session with the leadership of Nam Dinh Province to accelerate the investment procedures for the LNG power center project. The visit also included presenting social welfare gifts to the province in celebration of the upcoming Lunar New Year (the Year of the Snake 2025).

Recently, a delegation from the Petrovietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV GAS), led by General Director Pham Van Phong, held a working session with the leadership of Nam Dinh Province to accelerate the investment procedures for the LNG power center project. The visit also included presenting social welfare gifts to the province in celebration of the upcoming Lunar New Year (the Year of the Snake 2025).

The PV GAS delegation was warmly received by Nam Dinh’s leadership, including Dang Khanh Toan, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Pham Dinh Nghi, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Tran Minh Thang, Member of the Standing Board of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Mai Van Quyet, Director of the Provincial Department of Planning and Investment; leaders of relevant departments and agencies; and representatives from the offices of the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People’s Committee.

During the meeting, PV GAS General Director Pham Van Phong reaffirmed his corporation’s commitment to closely collaborating with Nam Dinh Province. He emphasized the corporation’s position as a leading enterprise in Vietnam’s gas industry, equipped with robust resources and operational efficiency. As a subsidiary of the National Energy and Industrial Group, PV GAS has established itself as the largest transporter and supplier of dry gas, the top producer and distributor of LPG, and the first importer and trader of LNG in Vietnam.

Aligned with national objectives in the LNG sector, PV GAS has been actively investing in large-scale LNG storage and port projects in key economic regions. In Nam Dinh, PV GAS is conducting research and surveys to develop an LNG center capable of supplying LNG within a 200km radius and featuring a deep-water port system. The corporation has actively collaborated to expedite preparations and complete investment procedures, ensuring that the project progresses swiftly.

General Director Pham Van Phong highlighted the LNG center in Nam Dinh as one of PV GAS’s flagship projects. The project comprises LNG storage facilities and a supply system designed to meet the energy demand not only in Nam Dinh but also in surrounding regions. He proposed that the province appoint a focal point to coordinate efforts effectively, streamline the approval process for investment policies, and facilitate the project’s timely implementation.

He emphasized that the project demonstrates PV GAS’s commitment to serious investment and practical capabilities while significantly contributing to the sustainable development of Vietnam’s energy industry and the socioeconomic growth of Nam Dinh Province and the nation as a whole.

Giving a speech at the meeting, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Dang Khanh Toan and Pham Dinh Nghi, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, highly rated the strategic importance of the LNG power center project. They affirmed their trust in PV GAS’s capabilities and determination, expecting the project to enhance energy security, attract additional investments, and drive socioeconomic development in the province. Nam Dinh is committed to supporting and facilitating the project’s efficient implementation, aligning with the province’s comprehensive development plan for the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050, as approved by the Prime Minister.

Regarding the conditions proposed by PV GAS to move forward with the investment decision for the LNG center, the provincial leaders assured that Nam Dinh is fully prepared to facilitate coordination, addressing challenges to support PV GAS. They emphasized the commitment to strengthening the relationship between Nam Dinh and PV GAS to achieve a successful investment partnership for the LNG center in the province.

Chairman of the Nam Dinh Provincial People’s Committee Pham Dinh Nghi was assigned to oversee and collaborate with PV GAS in expediting procedures to ensure effective project implementation. This collaboration not only aims at sustainable economic and technical development, but also prioritizes environmental protection and social welfare, aligning with Nam Dinh’s strategic growth objectives outlined in its provincial development plan.
