As part of her official visit to Vietnam from July 27 to 29, at midday on July 29 in Hanoi, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia Samdech Khuon Sudary received Nguyen Thi Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly, Chairwoman of the Vietnam - Cambodia Parliamentary Friendship Group, and Chairwoman of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association.

Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh expressed her pleasure at welcoming President Samdech Khuon Sudary and the high-level delegation of the National Assembly of Cambodia on their official visit to Vietnam.
She said that under the leadership of the two parties, and with the accompaniment of the two national assemblies and governments, Vietnam - Cambodia relations have been continuously consolidated, making a positive contribution to the development of each country.

The Vice Chairwoman said she was pleased to witness Vietnam - Cambodia relations becoming increasingly substantive, particularly as bilateral trade, tourism, cultural cooperation, as well as defense and security cooperation, continue to be strengthened and enhanced.
She noted that in recent times, the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association and the Cambodia - Vietnam Friendship Association have introduced many innovations in their methods of operation. In 2025, the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association organized a cooperation conference between business clubs of the two countries, through which numerous enterprises signed investment cooperation programs.

She expressed confidence that high-level visits between the leaders of the two countries serve as a driving force to make cooperation between the two parties, the two states, the two national assemblies and the two Governments increasingly effective, meeting development requirements in the new period.
Vice Chairwoman Thanh expressed her hope that President Samdech Khuon Sudary would continue to pay attention to and create favorable conditions for the two countries’ parliamentary friendship groups to strengthen their ties, truly serving as an effective bridge for promoting exchanges and sharing legislative experience, thereby helping to improve the quality and effectiveness of each country’s national assembly.

The Vice Chairwoman thanked President Samdech Khuon Sudary for her continued attention to the activities of the two countries’ friendship associations, and expressed her hope that the President and the National Assembly of Cambodia would continue to pay attention to and create favorable conditions for the ethnic Vietnamese community in Cambodia to live stably in accordance with local law, with particular focus on resolving legal documentation issues, so that the community can feel secure, stabilize their lives, and continue making positive contributions to Cambodia.
Looking toward the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cambodia (June 24, 1967 - 2027), the Vice Chairwoman said that the Parliamentary Friendship Group and the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association would coordinate closely with the Parliamentary Friendship Group and the Cambodia - Vietnam Friendship Association to carry out many practical cooperation activities. This is an event of great significance, offering not only an opportunity to look back on the development of bilateral relations, but also an occasion to affirm and spread the enduring values of friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the two peoples.
On the basis of high-level commitments, the parliamentary friendship groups and friendship associations of the two countries will proactively translate them into detailed cooperation programs and plans, and are determined to effectively carry out the tasks agreed upon by the leaders of the two parties and the two states, thereby further strengthening the traditional solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia.
Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh expressed her confidence that, in her capacity, President Samdech Khuon Sudary would continue to promote parliamentary cooperation between the two countries in an increasingly innovative, in-depth and effective manner.

President of the National Assembly of Cambodia Samdech Khuon Sudary acknowledged and highly appreciated the proposals put forward by Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh. She also emphasized that parliamentary diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy between the two countries have in recent times effectively played a bridging role, helping to strengthen solidarity and deepen the comprehensive cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia.
The President of the National Assembly of Cambodia affirmed that Cambodia stands ready to coordinate with and assist Vietnam in the search, recovery and identification of the remains of Vietnamese fallen soldiers, volunteer troops and experts who died in Cambodia, thereby jointly ensuring the successful implementation of the 500-day and night campaign to step up this work.

President Samdech Khuon Sudary expressed her hope that the two countries’ friendship organizations would continue to promote their core role in consolidating diplomatic relations and strengthening mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries. In particular, she said, the two sides need to coordinate closely to organize activities marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Cambodia diplomatic relations (June 24, 1967 - 2027), helping young people and the public gain a deeper understanding of the fine traditional relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia.
