Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh ends Malaysia visit with various results

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh concluded his Malaysia visit, underscoring Vietnam’s active role in advancing ASEAN cooperation.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation left Kuala Lumpur for Hanoi, concluding their participation in the 47th ASEAN Summit and related meetings held from October 25 to 28.

After three days of intensive discussions with more than 20 events, the 47th ASEAN Summit and related meetings wrapped up successfully.  

In his closing remarks, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim thanked all member states and partners for their meaningful contributions and tireless efforts that made the Summit a success an event “guided by perseverance and enlightened reason in a time of turbulence,” exemplifying the “ASEAN way.”

The key outcomes achieved will further energize the process of regional integration, enhancing the synergy and global standing of an “inclusive and sustainable” ASEAN Community in line with the 2025 theme, helping ASEAN confidently advance into a new phase of development with 11 members.

The outcomes of ASEAN’s meetings with partners also reaffirmed the bloc’s central role and helped strengthen and expand its external relations for peace, stability, and development.  

Assuming the ASEAN Chairmanship for 2026 from Malaysia, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced the theme for ASEAN 2026 as “Navigating Our Future Together,” with three key priorities: strengthening peace and security, advancing prosperity corridors, and empowering the people.

The Vietnamese delegation, led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, took an active and effective part in nearly 20 multilateral sessions within the Summit framework, sharing key orientations that will help shape ASEAN’s future. Vietnam also promoted practical cooperation with partners through more than 20 bilateral meetings.

Vietnam’s contributions, proposals, and initiatives focused on fostering a united, resilient, inclusive, and sustainable ASEAN Community that puts people at its center and links national development with regional progress. Through these efforts, Vietnam continues to demonstrate its proactive, positive, and responsible role, making substantive contributions to ASEAN’s unity and centrality for peace, stability, cooperation, and development across the region.

On the evening of October 28, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation departed Kuala Lumpur for Vietnam, concluding a successful visit to the 47th ASEAN Summit and related meetings held from October 25 to 28, at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, ASEAN Chair 2025.
