Prime Minister Le Minh Hung heads State Steering Committee for national key projects

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung heads the State Steering Committee overseeing key national programs and energy projects, aiming to ensure progress and coordination.

On April 9, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung signed Decision No.666/QD-TTg assigning responsibilities to the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Ministers. Accordingly, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, Secretary of the Government Party Committee, serves as head of the State Steering Committee for key national programs, works and projects.​

The State Steering Committee for key national programs, works and projects in the energy sector (the Steering Committee) was established under Decision No.2433/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister. Under the decision, the Steering Committee is tasked with assisting the Prime Minister in studying, advising, recommending and proposing orientations and solutions to address major, inter-sectoral issues to ensure the progress of key national programs, works and projects in the energy sector in accordance with regulations, as well as resolutions of the National Assembly and the Government, and decisions and directives of the Prime Minister.

At the same time, the Steering Committee assists the Prime Minister in directing, coordinating and urging ministries, sectors, localities, agencies and relevant organizations to address major, inter-sectoral issues arising during the implementation of key national programs, works and projects in the energy sector, including the following tasks: 

- Organize the implementation of plans for projects in line with assigned functions and tasks; closely and effectively coordinate in advising and proposing solutions and measures for project implementation; promptly report difficulties and obstacles beyond its authority and propose solutions for the Prime Minister’s consideration and decision.

- Direct, monitor, and urge project investors, consulting organizations and contractors to carry out tasks defined in approved master plans, plans, investment policies or decisions approving component projects in order to ensure construction progress and quality.

- Direct, monitor, and urge the handling, within its authority, of difficulties and obstacles related to site clearance for key national programs, works and projects in the energy sector.

- Direct, monitor, and urge relevant agencies, organizations and units to implement key tasks, schemes and projects under the national program on economical and efficient use of energy approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No.280/QD-TTg dated March 13, 2019.

Decision No.2433/QD-TTg clearly states that the Ministry of Industry and Trade serves as the standing body of the Steering Committee. The list of key national programs, works and projects in the energy sector, as well as schemes under the Steering Committee’s direction, will be proposed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and submitted to the Prime Minister for approval in line with requirements in each period.
