On the afternoon of July 27 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) held a gathering for family members of martyrs, wounded soldiers and sick soldiers who are currently working at agencies and units under the Ministry, marking the 79th anniversary of Wounded Soldiers and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2026).

The event was attended by Phan Van Ban, Member of the Standing Board and Standing Deputy Secretary of the MoIT Party Committee; Vietnamese Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Kim Loan; representatives of affiliated units; and officials, civil servants and public employees working under the Ministry who are children of martyrs, wounded soldiers and sick soldiers.

Honouring the sacrifices and contributions of previous generations

Addressing the gathering, Phan Van Ban, Member of the Standing Board and Standing Deputy Secretary of the MoIT Party Committee, noted that as the country commemorates the 79th anniversary of Wounded Soldiers and Martyrs' Day, the Party, the State and the Government have organised a wide range of meaningful activities to pay tribute to fallen heroes, honour Heroic Vietnamese Mothers and Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, and visit the families of martyrs, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers and other people who have rendered distinguished service to the nation.

According to Phan Van Ban, the Standing Board of the MoIT Party Committee, together with the Ministry's leadership and Party organisations across affiliated agencies and units, has organised numerous commemorative activities, including offering incense in memory of fallen heroes at memorial sites in central Vietnam, visiting and presenting gifts to Agent Orange victims, families of martyrs and people with meritorious service to the revolution.

He said that, in the solemn and meaningful atmosphere of July 27, the MoIT Party Committee had organised the gathering with Vietnamese Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Kim Loan and family members of martyrs, wounded soldiers and sick soldiers currently serving as officials, civil servants, public employees and workers within the Ministry. The event carries profound political and humanitarian significance, reflecting Vietnam's enduring tradition of gratitude embodied in the spirit of "When drinking water, remember its source" and "Repaying those to whom gratitude is owed." It also provides an opportunity for Party members, officials, civil servants, public employees and workers across the Ministry to express their deep appreciation to martyrs, Wounded Soldiers, sick soldiers, Heroic Vietnamese Mothers and the families whose sacrifices and contributions have been instrumental in the struggle for national liberation and in safeguarding and developing the country.

Carrying forward the tradition through meaningful actions

Reflecting on the significance of the tribute, Phan Van Ban stressed the responsibility of carrying forward the tradition of expressing gratitude to those who have sacrificed for the nation. He noted that the Party and the State have consistently regarded caring for people with meritorious service to the revolution as a regular political task and a shared responsibility of the entire political system and society.

He added that, alongside implementing the Party's and the State's policies, the MoIT Party Committee and the Ministry's leadership have continuously introduced practical initiatives to improve both the material and spiritual well-being of policy beneficiary families and people with meritorious service. The Ministry has also actively participated in gratitude campaigns, cared for Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, and regularly visited and supported the families of Wounded Soldiers and martyrs.

"Beyond fulfilling its responsibilities in honouring those who have sacrificed for the nation, the MoIT is also home to many officials who are carrying forward their families' revolutionary traditions. Among the Ministry's officials, Party members, civil servants, public employees and workers are many sons and daughters of wounded soldiers, martyrs and people with meritorious service to the revolution. They have not only upheld their families' proud legacy but have also continued to strive for excellence, fulfil their responsibilities with dedication, and make meaningful contributions to the development of the industry and trade sector and the country's progress," Phan Van Ban said at the gathering.

Following the remarks by the Ministry's leadership, Tran Hoai Trang, Deputy Director of the Electricity Authority, speaking on behalf of the families of martyrs, shared heartfelt memories of a loved one who sacrificed his life for the nation. She also expressed her appreciation for the care and encouragement extended by the Ministry's leadership and affiliated units to policy beneficiary families.

One of the most moving moments of the programme was an exchange with Vietnamese Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Kim Loan. In a solemn yet warm atmosphere, delegates listened as she recited a poem of her own composition and performed a song dedicated to the gathering. Her heartfelt verses and melody, drawn from the memories and emotions of a mother whose husband and only son both laid down their lives for the nation, deeply moved those in attendance. The performance served as a poignant tribute to the immense sacrifices made by previous generations in securing the country's independence and freedom while inspiring a renewed sense of gratitude among participants.

During the programme, the leadership of the MoIT and the MoIT Party Committee presented commemorative gifts to family members of martyrs, wounded soldiers and sick soldiers currently working within the Ministry as an expression of appreciation and recognition for the sacrifices and contributions made by previous generations.
