Petrovietnam ranks 11th among Southeast Asia’s largest enterprises

The Fortune Southeast Asia 500 list, released on June 17, officially ranked the Vietnam National Industry - Energy Group (Petrovietnam) 11th among the largest corporations in Southeast Asia. The group also secured a place among the Top 5 energy enterprises in the region and claimed the No.1 position among Vietnam’s largest companies.

This is the first time Petrovietnam has been recognized in a regional and international corporate ranking. Its strong performance reflects the group’s relentless efforts in agile management and effective adaptation to global market fluctuations, while seizing opportunities from the ongoing restructuring of global supply chains. Petrovietnam has proactively implemented comprehensive modernization initiatives in governance, optimized operational efficiency, and maintained its commitment to sustainable development goals.

In 2024, Petrovietnam not only surpassed its performance targets by a wide margin (6–27%) but also achieved record-breaking results. The group reported a total revenue exceeding VND 1 quadrillion, marking a historic first.

It contributed VND 165.6 trillion to the State budget and invested over VND 38 trillion — a 49% increase compared to 2023. The group expanded its traditional operations and pioneered offshore energy projects, participating for the first time in the global energy value chain — opening new horizons for future growth. By the end of 2024, Petrovietnam had fully achieved the financial targets of its 2021–2025 five-year plan, outperforming projections by 6–32%.

According to Fortune’s data, Vietnam contributed 76 enterprises to this year’s Southeast Asia 500 list, with a combined revenue of over USD 161 billion and a workforce exceeding 1.1 million. Among them, Petrovietnam made a significant contribution, underscoring its leading role in Vietnam’s energy sector and reaffirming its regional stature as a premier energy enterprise.
