The Nui Beo Coal Joint Stock Company welcomes the one millionth tonne of coal on November 20, 2021

Nui Beo Coal Joint Stock Company was designed to mine 1.2 million tonnes of coal in 2005, but it achieved this capacity in 2003 and mined three million tonnes in 2005.

In 2005, Nui Beo was the first coal mining unit of VINACOMIN to be transformed into a joint stock company. In 2009, the company mined 5.1 million tonnes of raw coal and has so far become the biggest raw coal miner of VINACOMIN.

In 2012, VINACOMIN chose Nui Beo as the investor of its VND5.3-trillion, two-million-tonnes-of-coal-per-year underground mining field construction project, which was designed and built by VINACOMIN. On February 3, 2012, Nui Beo officially started the project, marking an important milestone in the company’s construction and development.

Under the plan, the company would start underground coal mining in 2019, but it officially did it on May 19, 2017 thanks to its rapid, good preparations.

Since 2017, Nui Beo has mastered the technology of digging and propping pits with strain towers, and its efforts in this field have been highly rated by VINACOMIN. In 2018, the company put the auxiliary vertical shaft loading system into operation, and in 2019, the company applied the pit digging technology using a combine machine pertaining to propping pits with strain tower. In early 2020, Nui Beo used diesel locomotives to transport super-long and super-heavy equipment in the mining area. At that time, the company simultaneously put into operation five 200,000-tonnes-per-year chain-rack longwalls and one 600,000-tonnes-per-year mechanized longwall. In 2021, the company installed all equipment needed on the industrial site, as well as inside the pair of shafts, began operating the main vertical shaft loading system and officially accomplished the project’s basic construction. Nui Beo completely ended open-cast coal mining, closed the mine and restored mined areas in the same year.

With careful preparation of material facilities and human resources, the Nui Beo Coal Joint Stock Company reached an underground coal output of one million tonnes on November 20, 2021. The company mined 1.4 million tonnes of coal in 2022 and is expected to mine 1.75 million tonnes in 2023.
