
Boosting the competitiveness of Vietnam’s exports in global trade chains

On February 2, 2026, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long received and held talks with a senior delegation of Vestas Wind Systems A/S (Denmark), led by the company’s executive in charge of the Asia - Pacific region.

Participants from the Vietnamese side included representatives of the Department of Foreign Market Development and the Electricity Authority of Viet Nam. The Danish side comprised Danish Ambassador Nicolai Prytz; Lasse Pedersen Hjortshø, Commercial Counsellor; and Purvin Patel, President for Asia - Pacific at Vestas.
During the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long welcomed Vestas’s return to engage with the Ministry, commending the group for sustaining high-level dialogue and demonstrating a long-term commitment to the Vietnamese market. He emphasized that the development of renewable energy, particularly wind power remains a key pillar in ensuring energy security, advancing green growth, and delivering on Vietnam’s international commitments in the coming period.

Both sides agreed to continue exchanges and further deepen the issues discussed in previous meetings, with a focus on long-term, stable and sustainable cooperation. The Ministry shared Vietnam’s major policy directions, including efforts to complete the regulatory framework, improve the investment climate, and promote transparent and competitive investor selection, while encouraging participation by capable and experienced companies with a strong, long-term commitment to Vietnam.
Vestas representatives reaffirmed that Vietnam is a strategically important market in the Asia - Pacific region and expressed their desire to continue accompanying Vietnam in its energy transition. They also signaled readiness to expand cooperation in suitable areas, including project development, the provision of solutions and technical services, and exploring deeper participation in Vietnam’s energy supply chain and industrial ecosystem.

The two sides also discussed the importance of ensuring energy security alongside system and supply-chain security amid the energy and digital transitions, and agreed to continue technical-level consultations through appropriate cooperation mechanisms in the period ahead.
