A wide-ranging political activity across the entire sector

The year 2026 is the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 14th National Congress and carrying out resolutions of Party congresses at all levels for the 2025 - 2030 term. Party building and the rectification of the Party and the political system are currently facing new requirements with higher standards, demanding resolute implementation of key tasks set out by the 14th National Congress.

In practice, the promotion of implementation of the Resolutions and Conclusions of the 4th Central Conference (11th, 12th, and 13th tenures) has become an urgent requirement. This task must be closely linked with studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality, and style; promoting cultural values and the strength of the Vietnamese people to arouse the aspiration for a prosperous, happy country and strong international integration.

Based on Plan No. 19-KH/ĐU dated March 14, 2026 of the Party Committee of the Government on organizing the Second Political Essay Contest on protecting the Party’s ideological foundation, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued a plan to organize the 2026 Political Essay Contest on protecting the Party’s ideological foundation in the Party Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (hereinafter referred to as the Contest).

The Contest is defined as a wide-ranging political activity across the entire Industry and Trade sector, contributing to the effective implementation of Conclusion No. 89-KL/TW of the Politburo on continuing the implementation of Resolution No. 35-NQ/TW on strengthening the protection of the Party’s ideological foundation and combating wrongful and hostile viewpoints in the new situation.

The Contest is directed by the 35 Steering Committee of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Comrade Le Manh Hung, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry, Minister of Industry and Trade, Head of the 35 Steering Committee  is Head of the Contest Steering Committee. Comrade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, Standing Deputy Secretary, Deputy Minister of the Ministry is Standing Deputy Head of the Steering Committee and Head of the Organizing Committee. Comrade Phan Van Ban - Deputy Secretary in charge is Deputy Head of the Steering Committee and Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee.

Five genres, five thematic groups

Eligible participants include cadres, Party members, civil servants, public employees, Youth Union members, association members, and workers in Party organizations, agencies, units, enterprises, and socio-political organizations under the Ministry/Industry and Trade sector; journalists, editors, collaborators of press and media agencies under the Ministry/sector; students of schools under the Ministry/sector.

Submitted works are political essays in one of five categories: Magazine (print or electronic), Newspaper (print or electronic), Radio, Television, and Video clip. Individuals or groups may submit up to 5 works for 5 categories (one per category); collectives are not limited in quantity.

The general theme launched by the Central level is “Protecting the Party’s ideological foundation in the new era of development,” including five thematic groups: steadfastly maintaining, protecting, supplementing, and developing the Party’s ideological foundation in the new era; protecting the ideological foundation and fighting against wrongful and hostile viewpoints in all areas of social life; innovating content and methods of protecting the Party’s ideological foundation associated with the “Strategy for political and ideological work in the context of digital transformation”; solutions to build a clean and strong Party Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Government Party Committee; solutions to build a Government that is clean, action-oriented, and development-creating.

Submitted works must be original creations, not previously published, calculated from the time the Central level launched the 2026 Contest (October 22, 2025). The duplication rate must not exceed 20% for Magazine entries and 25% for Newspaper entries. The Organizing Committee does not accept works that have won the National Press Award and the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award.

The total budget for prizes and certificates is estimated at VND 134,000,000, including: 01 Special Prize (10 million VND), 01 First Prize (7 million VND), 05 Thematic Prizes (7 million VND/prize), 03 Second Prizes (5 million VND/prize), 06 Third Prizes (3 million VND/prize), and 12 Consolation Prizes (2 million VND/prize).

The Contest awards 5 Certificates of Merit to units and collectives with good organizational achievements (3 million VND/certificate) and 10 Certificates of Merit to individuals with good participation achievements (1 million VND/certificate).

Award-winning works will receive Certificates from the Contest Steering Committee, commemorative symbols, and cash prizes. Collectives and individuals with good organization and participation results will be awarded Certificates of Merit by the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Deadline for submission: May 20, 2026

According to the Plan, from April 2026 to May 20, 2026, subordinate Party committees, agencies, units, enterprises, and organizations will launch the contest, compile, report, and submit entries to the Party Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The Organizing Committee will conduct preliminary and final judging from May 21 to May 28, 2026; summarize results on May 29, 2026; and submit entries to the Party Committee of the Government contest on May 30, 2026.

The award ceremony is expected to be held from July 15 to August 15, 2026, to celebrate the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2026), the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2026), and the 81st anniversary of the Government’s establishment (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2026).

In the fourth quarter of 2026, the Organizing Committee is expected to publish and distribute the book “Protecting the Party’s ideological foundation on the economic front in the new era of development.”
