
MoIT leader assigned Deputy Head of Central food safety committee

According to a decision by the Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien has been named Deputy Head of the Central Interdisciplinary Steering Committee on Food Safety.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on September 9 signed Decision No. 1950/QD-TTg on the consolidation of the committee’s membership. Under the decision, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long serves as Head of the Steering Committee.
Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien has been appointed Deputy Head of the Central Interdisciplinary Steering Committee on Food Safety.
The Deputy Heads include Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan (Standing Deputy Head), Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, and Acting Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang.
Committee members consist of Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen (Standing Member); Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Truong Thanh Hoai; Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui The Duy; Deputy Minister of Public Security Nguyen Van Long; Deputy Minister of Finance Bui Van Khang; Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Thanh Nam; Standing Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh; Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Ha Thi Nga; Deputy Director-General of Vietnam Television Do Duc Hoang; Deputy Director-General of the Voice of Vietnam Pham Manh Hung; Vice President of the Vietnam Women’s Union Nguyen Thi Thu Hien; and Vice President of the Vietnam Farmers’ Union Nguyen Xuan Dinh.
The decision takes effect immediately upon signing and replaces Clause 4 of Decision No. 920/QD-TTg dated August 28, 2024, on consolidating the Steering Committee, as well as Decision No. 1420/QD-TTg dated November 18, 2024, approving its membership list.
According to Decision No. 920/QD-TTg, the Steering Committee is tasked with conducting research, providing consultation, and making recommendations to the Prime Minister on strategic, cross-sectoral solutions for food safety. It is also responsible for promptly proposing measures to the Prime Minister in cases where food safety developments pose complex challenges that could affect public health on a large scale.
