On September 26, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien hosted Lin Wu, member of the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee and Party Secretary of Shandong Province, at the ministry’s headquarters in Hanoi.
In recent years, cooperation between Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade and Shandong authorities has grown strongly, with frequent trade missions, investment promotion activities and business exchanges. These efforts have helped deepen economic, trade, industrial and energy ties between Vietnamese localities and Shandong.
Trade between Vietnam and Shandong rose 12.5% in 2024. In the first eight months of 2025, bilateral trade increased by 18.9%, with Vietnam’s exports to Shandong surging 29.4%. Vietnam has now become Shandong’s third-largest trading partner in ASEAN.
During the talks, the two sides exchanged views and agreed on measures to further enhance cooperation. Minister Dien praised the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Shandong, while Secretary Lin affirmed Shandong’s commitment to strengthening friendly, practical cooperation with Vietnam’s ministries and localities, including the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
