Effective implementation of trade union activities

In the first nine months of 2023, the Trade Union of Lao Cai Copper Smelting Company - Vimico has always stuck to assigned political tasks, coordinated with specialized departments to build specific trade union plans for each month, each quarter to boost trade union activities effectively.

Accordingly, all departments have well performed their tasks of taking good care of workers’ material and spiritual life; effectively implementing “Workers' Month - Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH)” in 2023; and successfully carrying out maintenance and repair of equipment at factories.

At the same time, the company’s Trade Union has always identified that protecting legitimate rights and interests of trade union members and workers is an important task. Direct and periodic dialogues were included in briefings, regular meetings or direct meetings on the fields.

Boosting popularization of political, ideological education

Over the past time, the Trade Union of Lao Cai Copper Smelting Company - Vimico has always attached professional tasks with political education of the Party’s guidelines and policies, the State’s laws, while also raising awareness of the functions, tasks of trade unions at higher levels among all officials, trade union members, and workers.

The unit organized cultural and sports activities; strengthened instructions on safety, security and order, fire prevention and fighting during holidays and New Year; actively responded to the Workers’ Month - Month of Action on OSH, Trade Union Month 2023. Consequently, the company has ensured OSH without labor accidents or equipment breakdowns, successfully completed production and business tasks as assigned.

The company also promoted the patriotic emulation movement through organizing four emulation programs: striving to successfully complete 2023 year’s plan; striving to complete the equipment repair and maintenance plans in the second quarter of 2023; Trade Union Month Emulation; and the 90-day race to reach the finish line. Through these programs, workers became more active and responsible in performing assigned tasks, and in organizing trade union activities.

In order to improve the operation quality of trade union staff, the company’s Trade Union has selected a team of experienced and enthusiastic trade union officials about the labor movement, created conditions for them to improve their expertise and skills; therefore, the quality of the trade union staff has increasingly improved.

In the coming period, the Trade Union of Lao Cai Copper Smelting Company - Vimico will continue to accelerate the implementation of welfare programs to bring practical benefits to trade union members and workers; listen to their thoughts and desires; as well as keep promoting the role and strength of trade union members and collectives in building it into a strong and effective trade union unit.
