“Since 2009, the National Fund for Science and Technology Development (Nafosted) has always prioritized financing high-level scientific research projects and accompanying scientists in carrying out international research collaborations in this field,” Minister Dat said.

The physics development programs have been continuously implemented since 2016, with priorities given to areas where Vietnam has strengths, such as theoretical and computational physics, physics of dense matter, quantum optics, and nuclear physics, and promoted research projects of highly practical application, for example, environmental monitoring and treatment, or materials science...

In addition, the application of physical methods and techniques in research projects have achieved many good results, such as nuclear application in industry, in environmental treatment, radioisotope applications in hydrology, and more.

According to the ranking of Scimago in Spain, the number of international publications in the field of physics and astronomy in Vietnam has risen from the 60th in 2013 to the 46th in 2023. Vietnam now also has one International Physics Center recognized and sponsored by UNESCO since 2018.

This is a high-level conference and the second time the organizing committee has chosen Vietnam to hold it. The 2016 PASCOS symposium at ICISE was attended by Prof. Takaaki Kajita (Japan, Nobel Prize in Physics 2015), who then supported ICISE to establish the Neutrino Physics research group at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Scientific Research and Education (IFIRSE) in 2017.

Regarding the relationship between France and Vietnam in the field of science, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Vietnam Olivier Brochet emphasized that the past three decades have witnessed close and effective cooperation in many fields.

The French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) is an important partner in this relationship, with more than 200 scientific exchange projects between French and Vietnamese scientists each year, ranging from tropical ecology to mathematics and composite materials.

In addition, France also has research organizations regularly present in Vietnam, such as the French Institute for Research and Development (IRD), which has close cooperation with dozens of French and Vietnamese scientists on urgent and important topics, such as oceanography, combating drug resistance and many other areas; or CIRAD, a research organization on agronomy that works closely with Vietnamese researchers to help Vietnam keep developing its ecological agriculture while also preserving biodiversity.
