Gia Lai calls for private investment in IC infrastructure
(VEN) - Thanks to good support policies, industrial clusters (IC) in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai are attracting many businesses from the private sector in accordance with the set target of the province.
Gia Lai Province has called for investment from four investors in building technical infrastructure of four ICs, including IC No.2 in Dak Doa District, Ia Grai IC, IC No.1 in Dak Po District and another IC expansion project in Mang Yang District, with a total investment capital of VND1.541 trillion.

It is worth mentioning that when investors have not started construction in IC No.2 in Dak Doa District yet, 10 secondary enterprises have registered operation in the cluster in the fields of processing and cold storage, and more.
Apart from IC No.2, related agencies are accelerating administrative procedures to submit to the Provincial People’s Committee for the establishment of the remaining three ICs and investment in infrastructure there.
According to data from the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Industry and Trade, 13 ICs have been established in the province with detailed planning on an area of 466.53 hectares. Of those, eight ICs have fully or partially implemented the work of compensation and site clearance with a total investment of VND184 billion. After establishment, the ICs have initially created production space for local businesses operating in different fields and contributed to treating environmental pollution in residential areas caused by industrial production facilities.
However, like many other localities, the call for investment from private sector in building IC infrastructure in Gia Lai Province still faces many challenges, especially overlapping regulations on procedures for investment policies under the Investment Law and the lack of legal mechanism in the transfer of state-invested ICs to private investors, resulting in difficulties in attracting investment from the private sector in this field.
Although Gia Lai Province has taken different measures to resolve problems regarding investment of the private sector in IC infrastructure, it has not created fundamental changes yet. According to a representative of Gia Lai Provincial Department of Industry and Trade, Decree No.32/2024/ND-CP on the management and development of industrial clusters, which has given more “power” to the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Departments of Industry and Trade, is expected to untie these knots.
