According to VNA, on the morning of February 5, the special aircraft carrying General Secretary To Lam and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived at Wattay International Airport in Vientiane, beginning a State visit to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic at the invitation of General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith.

Greeting General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation at Wattay International Airport, the Lao side included Vilay Lakhamphong, Politburo member and Permanent Member of the Secretariat; Phet Phomphiphak, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and Head of the Party Central Committee Office; Thongsalith Mangnomek, Politburo member and Minister of Education and Sports; Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs; Khemmani Pholsena, Member of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Presidential Office; Bounleua Phandanouvong, Member of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations; Bouakhong Nammavong, Member of the Party Central Committee and Minister and Head of the Prime Minister’s Office; Adsaphangthong Siphandone, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Vientiane Party Committee; Sanya Praseuth, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly; and Khamphao Ernthavanh, Lao Ambassador to Vietnam.

The Vietnamese side included Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam and his spouse, alongside representatives, officials, and staff from the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos. Representatives of the Vietnamese community living and studying in Laos were also present at the airport to welcome General Secretary To Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation.

In an atmosphere of profound friendship, the Lao young women and children presented flowers to the General Secretary. Representatives of the Vietnamese diaspora and international students in Laos, along with numerous Lao students and citizens, waved the flags of both nations at the airport and along the route to welcome the General Secretary and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation.

The visit offers an opportunity for the two Parties and countries to continue strongly reaffirming the tradition of special solidarity and faithful attachment between Vietnam and Laos. This bond has been tested, tempered, and continuously nurtured throughout historical periods, demonstrating the highest political determination of the high-level leaders of both Parties and States to develop the relationship in an increasingly substantive and effective manner.
