The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), including the Department of Foreign Market Development, the Electricity Authority, and the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency.

At the meeting, the Deputy Minister thanked Estonia, as a member of the EU, for its continued support for Vietnam–EU relations and for being among the early countries to ratify the EVFTA and EVIPA. Both sides acknowledged the positive outcomes in bilateral exchanges since the EVFTA came into force.
Minister Margus Tsahkna said Estonia is an EU country with notable experience in digital transformation, e-government, information technology, cybersecurity, smart logistics, and innovation ecosystems. With substantial resources from the EU and extensive experience, Estonia expressed its desire to cooperate with, support, share expertise, and stand ready to transfer technology to Vietnam in digital transformation and digital government. In addition, the Foreign Minister expressed his hope that MoIT would facilitate procedures and provide information so that major Estonian energy enterprises could explore cooperation opportunities with Vietnamese partners.

Both sides expressed confidence that the bilateral exchange would serve as an important stepping stone for strengthening cooperation in e-commerce, digital transformation, and energy, paving the way for future delegation exchanges at all levels and trade promotion activities to further enhance bilateral relations in the coming period.
Since the EVFTA came into effect in 2020, despite the adverse impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, bilateral trade between Vietnam and Estonia recorded significant growth in 2021 and 2022, with increases of 37.7% and 37.3%, respectively. Notably, in the first three months of 2026 alone, bilateral trade posted remarkable growth, with total import-export turnover reaching USD 33.9 million, up 85.2%. Recent trade performance indicates that there remains substantial potential for cooperation between Vietnam and Estonia.
