The Ministry of Industry and Trade
Hanoi, May 18, 2026
Congratulatory letter from Minister Le Manh Hung on the occasion of Vietnam’s Science, Technology, and Innovation Day (May 18, 2026)
To all officials, civil servants, public employees, scientists, experts, managers, members of the business community, and all those working in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation in Vietnam’s industry and trade sector,
On the occasion of Vietnam’s Science, Technology, and Innovation Day (May 18), on behalf of the Standing Board of the Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, I would like to extend my warm regards and best wishes to the entire community of intellectuals, researchers, managers, enterprises, organizations and individuals engaged in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation across the sector.
Dear comrades,
Science, technology, innovation and digital transformation are increasingly becoming the foundation and principal driving force of the new growth model, as well as a key measure of each nation’s competitiveness, resilience and capacity for self-reliance. For the industry and trade sector, they are not only an urgent requirement for development, but also a strategic pathway toward mastering energy, strengthening industry, ensuring smooth market operations, and elevating Vietnam’s position in regional and global value chains.
Fully embracing Resolution No.57-NQ/TW of the Politburo, the industry and trade sector identifies science, technology, innovation and digital transformation as a breakthrough driver for renewing the development model, with enterprises placed at the center, the market serving as the benchmark, research institutes and training institutions acting as pillars of knowledge, and the State playing a facilitating role. Our vision is to build a modern, green, digital, self-reliant and deeply integrated industry and trade sector, where science is transformed into productivity, technology into competitive strength, and innovation into a new engine of national growth.
In the coming period, the entire sector faces major strategic tasks: ensuring national energy security in tandem with a green, fair and efficient energy transition; developing foundational industries, high-tech industries, supporting industries and globally competitive supply chains; and building a modern, civilized and transparent domestic market closely linked with e-commerce, smart logistics and deeper international integration. To fulfill these tasks, science, technology, innovation and digital transformation must lead the way and permeate every policy, every production line, every business model and every governance method throughout the sector.
I highly appreciate and commend the dedication, efforts, and achievements of officials, scientists, experts, research institutes, training institutions, enterprises and units across the sector over the past period. Numerous research projects, technological initiatives, innovation models and digital transformation solutions have been effectively applied in management, production and business activities, contributing to energy savings, higher productivity and quality, improved efficiency and competitiveness of enterprises, and greater global reach for Vietnamese products.
Dear comrades,
The year 2026 opens up new opportunities while also placing higher demands on innovation capacity, transformation speed, and ability to master strategic technologies. I hope that the science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation workforce of the industry and trade sector will continue to uphold its pioneering spirit, bold thinking, determination, and aspiration to serve the nation; bringing research beyond the confines of paperwork and academic projects to become products, processes, standards, digital platforms, governance solutions, and tangible added value for people, businesses and the economy. At the same time, the entire sector must foster an open innovation ecosystem where every idea has the opportunity to become a solution, and every solution has the opportunity to create value.
I firmly believe that, with political steadfastness, scientific intellect and a profound sense of responsibility toward the sector and the nation, those working in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation within the industry and trade sector will continue to innovate tirelessly, proactively conduct research, apply and master core technologies, digital technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), Big Data, automation, apply and master core technologies, digital technologies, and modern governance models. In doing so, they will contribute to building a modern, green, self-reliant and highly competitive national industry, while helping realize the nation’s aspiration for rapid, sustainable, and prosperous development in the new era.
I wish all comrades and your families good health, happiness, and success.
May the science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation community of the industry and trade sector continue to grow stronger and further spread the spirit of creativity, dedication, and aspiration for contribution to the development of the sector and the country.
Sincerely,
Le Manh Hung
Member of the Party Central Committee,
Secretary of the Party Committee and Minister of Industry and Trade.
