Bosch Vietnam celebrates 10 years of Bosch Technical Industrial Apprenticeship Center

The Bosch Vietnam Plant at Long Thanh Industrial Park celebrated the 10th anniversary of Bosch Technical Industrial Apprenticeship Training Center (Bosch TGA). This is a significant milestone of the collaborated vocational training program, highlighting Bosch’s commitment in developing a highly skilled workforce in Vietnam.

Established in 2013 with an initial investment of more than 1 million Euro, Bosch TGA offers two majors: Industrial Mechanic and Mechatronics. The curriculum is designed to focus on practical training, with 75% of the course spent at the workshop of Bosch TGA Training Center, while the remaining is for theoretical training at LILAMA2 International Technology College (LILAMA2). As of December 2022, a total of 134 students have graduated and currently working for Bosch as technicians and engineers. Throughout the three-and-a-half-years program, all students get full tuition waiver and monthly allowance to relief financial burden. Students also enjoy a range of extra benefits, such as language class and international internships for top-performing students, which helps them develop themselves fully in a fast-changing world.

Emphasizing diversity from day 1

Bosch TGA is dedicated to fostering diversity, inclusion, and equity in the workplace. As part of this commitment, the program focuses on promoting and supporting female apprentices by implementing various initiatives and programs to promote gender diversity and equal opportunities for women. The merit-based admission process of the Bosch TGA ensures that all applicants, regardless of gender, are given equal chances to enroll.

Tao Ve Dan is one such case empowered by this training program. Ve Dan had always dreamt of becoming a fashion designer, but her family's financial situation made it impossible for her to pursue her passion. However, things took a positive turn when Bosch TGA offered her an opportunity to enroll in the industrial training program to become an apprentice in the male-dominated field. She gained in-depth knowledge and became a top student in her class. After a 6-month internship in Germany, she now works as a Process Engineer for Bosch, and credited Bosch TGA for providing the perfect environment to achieve her goals.

“Making room for young women to grow in vocational training settings means not only opening doors, but actively creating pathways for their success.” Ms. Hoang Thi Minh Luong, Senior Manager - TGA Training passionately shared. “By investing in mentorship, networking, and skill-building opportunities, we can break down barriers and cultivate a more diverse and dynamic workforce that benefits us all."

Bosch has been investing in talent development in Vietnam since the very beginning of its operations. Bosch TGA, as well as many educational projects, is an essential part of Bosch Vietnam’s local-for-local strategy. Identifying the youth as the key player of this strategy, the company cooperates with various universities and educational institutions across the country to enhance employability. In the recent years, two Automotive and Transmission laboratories were opened on the campus of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT). Bosch also held a series of workshops and competitions to encourage the learning/curious attitude among students, and career guidance sessions at highschool & university level. These activities are the testament to Bosch’s dedication in building a highly skilled workforce in Vietnam.
