On September 16, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), Deputy Minister Nguyen Viet Son held a working session with Amerino Gatti, Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of the Oilfield Services and Equipment business at Baker Hughes.

Overview of the meeting.
At the meeting, Amerino Gatti briefed Deputy Minister Nguyen Viet Son on Baker Hughes' operations in Viet Nam.
Baker Hughes is a leading US energy technology company providing a wide range of solutions, including oilfield services, gas and LNG technologies, industrial energy, carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), geothermal energy, hydrogen, clean energy and digital solutions. The company supports governments and national energy companies in strengthening energy security, improving operational efficiency, reducing emissions and developing a highly skilled technical workforce.

Baker Hughes has operated in Viet Nam since 1997 and has maintained close and long-standing cooperation with the Viet Nam National Industry-Energy Group (Petrovietnam), its member companies and oil and gas operators by providing advanced technologies and technical services for oil and gas exploration, development and production; implementing specialized training programs and developing high-quality human resources; and promoting emissions management, digital transformation and the development of new technologies in Viet Nam's energy sector.
The Baker Hughes executive expressed his hope that the company would continue to receive attention and support from the MoIT and relevant Vietnamese authorities to effectively implement its ongoing projects.
Amerino Gatti said that maintaining regular exchanges with the MoIT, Petrovietnam and relevant partners would enable the company to better understand the development needs of the energy sector while helping address difficulties and obstacles arising during project implementation in a timely manner. Through these efforts, Baker Hughes expects to further expand its cooperation in Viet Nam in line with the development orientation of the energy sector and make a positive contribution to the country's energy transition.
Baker Hughes also shared its experience and prospects for cooperation in developing the carbon market, methane emissions reduction solutions, carbon capture and storage (CCS/CCUS), as well as clean energy technologies such as LNG and hydrogen, while promoting the development of new energy markets. These efforts would support Viet Nam in achieving its Net Zero 2050 target.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Viet Son welcomed and highly appreciated Baker Hughes' effective contributions through its successful cooperation with Petrovietnam and PV Drilling. He noted that the Petroleum Law No. 10/2026/QH16, adopted by the National Assembly on August 23, 2026, and set to take effect on March 1, 2027, introduces a number of new mechanisms and policies to facilitate oil and gas activities.

He also called on the company to strengthen technology transfer and support Viet Nam in enhancing its capacity to manufacture industrial and energy equipment, while promoting the localization of equipment and gradually increasing domestic production. This would help Vietnamese enterprises participate more deeply in Baker Hughes' global value chain.
The Deputy Minister said the MoIT would continue to provide guidance, support and assistance in addressing institutional and policy-related obstacles to help Baker Hughes expand its investment and operate effectively and sustainably in Viet Nam.
