Water pouring season in the northwest

(VEN) - In May and June, when the summer rains start in Vietnam’s northwest, farmers go to the rice fields to plant a new crop. The site of the rainwater pouring down into layers of terraced fields is so unique that it has a name, “the water pouring season”.

Visiting the region during this time affords mesmerizing vistas of terraced fields forming colorful mosaics and reflects the hard-working spirit among the local farmers.

Visiting and experiencing terraced fields in the water pouring season has become an attractive tourism offering, combining community-based tourism activities such as home stays, with exposure to the traditional culture and daily lives of ethnic minorities in the northern localities.
