
Vietnam, China sign MoUs on cross-border zone and supply chains

At noon on May 15, 2026, under the witness of the two Party General Secretaries and Presidents of Vietnam and China, Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung and Minister of Commerce of China Wang Wentao jointly signed the “Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the establishment of a working group to negotiate and promote the building of a Vietnam - China cross-border economic cooperation zone” and the “MoU on the establishment of a working group on Vietnam - China production and supply chain cooperation.”

The signing of these documents clearly demonstrates the determination of the two ministries and serves as a highlight in concretizing the common perceptions reached by the two countries’ senior leaders on deepening economic and trade cooperation in a more substantive and effective manner, thereby contributing practical outcomes to the high-level visit.

The signing of the documents highlights the strong determination of the two ministries and marks a key milestone in translating the shared understanding of the two countries’ senior leaders into concrete actions to further deepen economic and trade cooperation. At the same time, the agreements help establish cooperation frameworks based on practical, mutually beneficial needs and in line with the principles and regulations of regional and global cooperation mechanisms of which both countries are members, thus continuing to promote increasingly close and sustainable economic and trade ties in the coming period.
