The proposed planning ideas play a crucial role in shaping the future development of Long Thanh Airport City.
Therefore, the People’s Committee of Dong Nai Province has decided to organize the international competition “General urban planning ideas for Long Thanh Airport City, Dong Nai Province, and surrounding areas” to seek unique ideas and optimal, feasible planning solutions that align with the conditions and direction for the future development of Long Thanh Airport City.
The competition is aimed at helping Dong Nai Province seek general urban planning ideas for Long Thanh Airport City and its surrounding region, including the three districts of Long Thanh, Thong Nhat, and Cam My, covering an area of over 57,000 hectares.
Specifically, the area for the general urban planning of Long Thanh Airport City includes the entire administrative boundary of Long Thanh District, comprising 14 administrative units (13 communes and 1 town) with an area of over 43,000 hectares. The extended surrounding area covers more than 14,000 hectares, including the administrative boundaries of Communal Road 25 in Thong Nhat District and Xuan Que, Song Nhan, and Thua Duc communes in Cam My District.
The goal of the competition is to harness expertise from experienced domestic and international consulting firms in the fields of planning, investment, construction, development, management, and operation of airport cities. The aim is to find a concept with a comprehensive vision and high practical applicability, meeting architectural, landscape, functional, and aesthetic criteria for a modern, green, and sustainable city. Additionally, the plan should align with the “aeropolis” trend of airport cities, fit with the current conditions, and be in line with the socioeconomic directions of the Southeastern region, Ho Chi Minh City, and Dong Nai Province.
Long Thanh Airport City is expected to effectively harness land, infrastructure, and human resources to create harmony between existing projects and new investment areas with modern technical systems.
Through the competition, the optimal planning idea will be selected as the basis for developing the general urban plan for Long Thanh Airport City. The People’s Committee of Dong Nai Province will choose a consulting firm to help it prepare the general urban planing for Long Thanh City, in accordance with the urban planning tasks approved by the Prime Minister in February 2024.
