Mushroom production mechanization proves effective

Thanh Nhan mushroom establishment in Cay Sao Hamlet, Tan Lap Commune, Tan Thanh District specializes in producing and processing mushroom powder, edible mushrooms of all kinds and medicinal mushrooms. The unit has also been producing mushroom embryos for many years. This is a small-scale rural industrial production establishment with limited production capital. Through research and surveys, the Industry Promotion Center has coordinated with the production unit to develop a project in which it supported part of the funding from local industry promotion capital to help the establishment boldly invest in applying advanced equipment in the production of products made from mushrooms, contributing to increasing revenue and expanding consumption markets for the production establishment.

Accordingly, in order to implement the project, Thanh Nhan mushroom establishment invested in 100 percent of production lines for products from edible mushrooms and medicinal mushrooms, including mixers, packing machines, steam ovens, and more... with a capacity from 400 to 500 kilograms per month. The total investment cost for purchasing machinery and equipment was VND290 million, of which the local industry promotion funding reached VND145 million, and the remaining amount mobilized from reciprocal capital from the production establishment.

The project’s testing results showed that the beneficiary purchased the right equipment items according to contracts. The production line operated at optimal capacity, helping increase productivity and product quality. The efficient project also contributed to spreading industry promotion policies to rural industrial establishments in the same areas.

From practical operation of the production unit, Le Thanh Nhan - the owner of Thanh Nhan mushroom establishment, said that the new equipment line brought many advantages, such as reducing labor, lowering production costs by one third compared to the traditional mushroom production methods. In particular, since the mechanical production processes are applied, the output products can meet food hygiene and safety requirements due to limited contact with workers.

The project “Supporting the application of advanced machinery and equipment in making products from edible and medicinal mushrooms” is one of the nine local industry promotion projects in 2024 approved by the Long An Provincial People’s Committee with the total funding of more than VND1.7 billion. The projects are being closely followed and monitored by the provincial Industrial Promotion Center to ensure progress according to the assigned plan.
