Kien Giang assists rural industrial enterprises

In the 2022-2024 period, the Kien Giang Industry Promotion and Development Consultancy Center has been implementing a pilot national industry promotion project themed “Supporting rural industrial establishments in fish sauce processing” with total funding of more than VND8.24 billion, including VND1.66 billion in 2022 and VND1.49 billion in 2023.

In 2024, the approved funding reaches VND5.095 billion for a number of projects and programs, such as treatment of environmental pollution for three establishments at a cost of VND650 million; application of advanced machinery and equipment at four establishments with a funding of VND1.1 billion; organizing the 14th industry promotion conference in the southern provinces in 2024 at the cost of VND350 million; and an exhibition of typical rural industrial products in the southern region in 2024, worth VND2.84 billion.

Talking about the effectiveness of the pilot industry promotion project, Truong Van Cuoi - Director of Kien Giang Industry Promotion and Development Consultancy Center - said, the pilot national industry promotion project has encouraged the local industry promotion establishments to expand scale, apply advanced technology in quality management, introduce products, develop markets domestically and internationally, and increase competitiveness of products.

The project has contributed to encouraging cleaner production at fish sauce processing facilities to improve the efficient use of natural resources, raw materials, and fuel; minimizing emissions and limiting environmental pollution; improving environmental quality and human health; enhancing export capacity; increasing economic value of products, profits for businesses, and the local budget revenue.

To keep improving the effectiveness of the pilot project and complete the 2024 industry promotion plan, Cuoi said, the center will direct its staff to closely follow their assigned work to complete the plan, promote support for industry promotion policies to develop outstanding rural industrial products and key industrial products of the province in accordance with the province’s economic development planning; propose key projects and group projects that could exploit the advantages of local regional raw materials, thereby promoting the development of other industrial products, contributing to boosting the socioeconomic development of the province.
