Accordingly, the company’s units have regularly implemented many communications programs on environmental protection, including training classes, guidance on management and operation of automatic monitoring stations, and dissemination of laws.

Every year, the company organizes different conferences on environmental hygiene and labor safety, updates new legal documents and seriously updates data on the industry and trade sector and reports on the environment according to regulations.

Particularly, the company regularly and promptly exchanges information with Lang Son Province’s Department of Natural Resources and Environment, and reports on the developments of a coordination program they plan to do throughout the year.

It also carries out periodic environmental monitoring four times a year in accordance with the certificate issued by the Vietnam Environment Administration and also unscheduled monitoring by state management agencies about three times a year.

Waste sources seriously treated

Na Duong Thermal Power Company has paid special attention to waste treatment from production. Currently, the entire wastewater of the thermal power plant before being discharged into the environment is collected, put into an equalization tank, then to a neutralization tank, a sedimentation tank, and then to a central monitoring tank. Finally, the wastewater is discharged into the environment by two pumps at the capacity of 170 cu.m per hour.

As for waste, the company usually generates three types of waste, including solid waste, hazardous waste, and ash and slag. Accordingly, every year, the company signs the contract with the People’s Committee of Na Duong Township to collect, classify, transport and treat the solid waste. Regarding hazardous waste, the company has a separate storage area for this kind of waste in accordance with Circular 02/2022/TT-BTNMT dated January 10, 2022. Meanwhile, an average volume of about 350,000 tonnes of ash and slag per year (29,000 tonnes per month) is transported by specialized vehicles to Na Duoi slag dumping site about three kilometers away. According to the Prime Minister’s Decision No.452/QD-TTg dated April 12, 2017, the waste of plant is eligible to make leveling materials and additives for the cement industry. In the coming time, the company will sell ash and slag by auctions to use this raw material properly in construction activities.

Particularly, as for emissions, the company has installed a continuous emission monitoring (CEMS) system for two boilers and since March 2019 has connected online data transmission to the province’s Natural Resources and Environment Center. Also, Na Duong Thermal Power Company has publicized the results of automatic and continuous waste monitoring on the electronic information board at the entrance gate of the company.

Na Duong Thermal Power Company has complied with environmental protection regulations to protect the health of the company’s staff without impacts on the lives of those around.
