Vietnam, China elevate strategic connectivity

(VEN) - Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue’s visit to China from April 7-12 was the first visit by a high-ranking Vietnamese leader since the two nations announced the enhancement of their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, building a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.

Vietnamese Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu said the visit once again demonstrates the clear message about the consistent foreign policy of the Vietnamese Party and State, emphasizing the importance of the relationship with China, and the desire to concretize and implement the shared perceptions, commitments and agreements reached by the top leaders of the two Parties and countries, positively contributing to the development of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China, for the benefits of the peoples of both countries and for peace, stability and development in the region and the rest of the world.

The visit not only contributed to the cooperative ties between the two legislatures but also the overall relationship between the two Parties and countries in various fields, including politics, defense-security, practical cooperation, especially in economic development, trade, investment, transport connectivity, multilateral coordination, people-to-people exchanges, and the control and settlement of differences at sea in accordance with the six major directions agreed upon by the top leaders.

China attaching great importance to relationship with Vietnam

The fact that General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of China Xi Jinping met with National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and the Vietnamese delegation immediately after the delegation’s arrival in Beijing demonstrates China’s high regard for the bilateral relationship and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation’s visit.

At the meeting with General Party Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue emphasized that developing relations with China is a strategic choice and a top priority in Vietnam’s independent and autonomous foreign policy, aiming for peace, cooperation and development, as well as the diversification and multilateralization of Vietnam’s foreign relations. He affirmed Vietnam’s consistency in recognizing the “One China” policy.

Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue proposed that the two countries reinforce and enhance political trust, increase high-level contacts, effectively implement exchanges and cooperation between the two parties, governments, national assemblies, and the Fatherland Fronts, and in the fields of diplomacy, public security, and national defense. He also suggested elevating strategic connectivity to create new growth momentum for bilateral cooperation, with a focus on promoting trade cooperation, expanding imports of Vietnamese goods, especially agricultural products, enhancing connectivity between Vietnam and China’s major development strategies, promoting railway, expressway, maritime and aviation connections, as well as fostering financial, currency and digitization cooperation.

The Chairman also called for strengthening people-to-people exchanges and leveraging the role of parliamentary representatives in fostering information, communication and social consensus between the two countries. This would contribute to enhancing cooperation in various fields.

General Party Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping affirmed that China attaches great importance to its relationship with Vietnam, and always desires and is willing to promote the development of the relations between the two parties and countries, deepening their substance and depth.

The President expressed high regard for Vietnam’s cooperation proposals and emphasized China is willing to maintain strategic exchanges with Vietnam, promote contacts at all levels, enhance party-to-party exchanges, share experience and theories on party building and governance, strengthen substantial cooperation, expedite strategic connectivity, particularly in the areas of railways and smart border crossing, enhance cooperation in digital economy, green energy, essential minerals, and emerging industries. China welcomes Vietnam’s connection with its major inter-regional development strategies.

With numerous practical achievements, Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue’s visit to China marked a significant step forward in the bilateral relations, demonstrating the critical and practical contributions of the legislative bodies to the overall development of the ties between the two Parties and countries.
