Modern technologies in controlling environmental pollution
In operation, all the thermal power plants of EVNGENCO 1 have installed electrostatic precipitator (ESP) systems with dust treatment efficiency of over 99.6 percent to ensure the minimum concentration of dust emitted into the environment.

In recent years, monitoring environmental parameters at power plants have all met the Vietnamese Standards (QCVN) on emissions and wastewater. Parameters and data are transmitted online to local Departments of Natural Resources and Environment and EVNGENCO1 for monitoring and inspection.
In addition, wastewater collection and treatment systems have been built in all EVNGENCO1's thermal power plants to ensure compliance with different Vietnamese Standards.
For example, Nghi Son 1 Thermal Power Plant is equipped with a dust filtration and desulfurization system according to Korean and Japanese technology standards.
In particular, each generating set is equipped with a 200m high chimney, helping diffuse exhaust gases widely and reduce dust concentrations to a very low level, without affecting the environment.
Ash and slag consumption
Over the past time, EVNGENCO1 and its subsidiaries have sought ways to handle and consume ash and slag at thermal power plants. As of June 2023, the Corporation's power plants all reached a 100 percent ash and slag consumption rate.

EVNGENCO1 also carefully controls the transportation, storage and use of ash, slag and fly ash of its partners, ensuring safety for people, equipment, vehicles, and complying with environmental protection and construction materials management regulation.
For example, at Uong Bi Thermal Power Company, fly ash is partly collected through closed slag pipes to the slag disposal site to avoid affecting the surrounding areas. At Duyen Hai Thermal Power Company, the company organized a conference announcing the results of ash and slag analysis, and standard certificates; and solutions to consume fly ash by pipelines to FO Oil Port, etc.
Along with effectively treating and consuming ash and slag created during the power generation process, the thermal power plants under VNGENCO1 have also paid much attention to “greening” the slag dumps, for example, by planting casuarina trees around ash and slag disposal areas; building a high dike around to create an isolated area, and releasing fish and shrimp in slag lakes, creating an ecosystem.
Nguyen Tien Khoa - Chairman of the Board of Members of EVNGENCO1 affirmed that the corporation’s leaders and employees are aware that only by well protecting the environment can the Corporation ensure sustainable development. Therefore, many solutions have been implemented by the Corporation and its units, ensuring serious compliance with environmental protection regulations.
