Hanoi surpassed strong rivals such as Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia, Kyoto of Japan, and Chinese Taipei to win the prestigious title.

The city is widely viewed as a rising star on the culinary tourism map as three out of the nation’s first four Michelin-starred restaurants are located in the capital. The award continues to affirm the attraction of Hanoi cuisine to international tourists.

Anan Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City and Hibana by Koki in Hanoi, both given a one Michelin star in June, have won in different categories at this year's World Culinary Awards.

Anan Saigon was voted Asia's best restaurant.

Hibana by Koki, located inside the Capella Hotel on Le Phung Hieu Street in Hanoi's Old Quarter, was named Asia's best hotel restaurant.

Earlier this year, Hanoi was voted one of the world's top 20 food destinations for 2023 by Tripadvisor readers.

Signature dishes that have contributed to Hanoi cuisine's reputation include bun cha (char-grilled pork with rice noodles), cha ca (fried catfish) and egg coffee.
