Targeting at a smart, green and prosperous city
Ha Minh Hai said, so far, the Hanoi Party Committee and People’s Committee assigned the Hanoi Institute for Socio-Economic Development Research to doing research and preparing the capital planning. During the process, the city’s leaders directed the planning agency to organize seminars and discussions to seek opinions from agencies, organizations, experts and scientists.

He said organizing the workshop is also promoting and mobilizing enormous intellectual resources and brain matter in the Capital area for the Capital Planning work in particular and for building and developing the Capital in general.
According to statistics, the organizing committee received more than 60 articles with diverse and rich contents, very high quality articles with two main lines. That is to focus on clarifying and further developing the contents mentioned in the Capital orientation outline. It has also analyzed and evaluated the current situation and proposed planning directions for the sectors and fields of the Capital.

“Accurately identifying Hanoi’s bottlenecks and their causes will contribute to providing breakthrough ideas and specific solutions for Hanoi to overcome and develop in the spirit of Resolution 15 of the Politburo, to build Hanoi a real city worth living in,” - Ha Minh Hai emphasized.
Five development axes
At the conference, experts and scientists discussed and made contributions to clarifying specific factors and characteristics to identify Hanoi’s unique potentials and advantages in comparison with other capitals and cities in the world.
Accordingly, they recommended development space of two cities directly under the capital in the northern and western regions; three economic corridors; four spaces for urban development including digital space, cultural space, underground space; and public spaces; and particularly five key growth axes including the Red River as a green axis; the West Lake – Ba Vi axis serving as a connection between the central urban districts and surrounding satellite towns; the Nhat Tan – Noi Bai as a smart urban axis; Southern axis (regional connection axis) and the West Lake - Co Loa as a cultural space axis.
According to Le Ngoc Anh - Director of the Hanoi Institute for Socio-Economic Development Research, Hanoi needs to promote and effectively exploit its potential advantages, creating a breakthrough in mobilizing overall strength of the Capital, combined with domestic and international resources, arousing the desire to develop the Capital on par with those of other countries in the region and the world.
