Ha Giang supports craft village development

(VEN) - The industry and trade sector of Ha Giang Province has deployed many industry promotion programs and projects to support the development of craft villages, contributing to improving the socioeconomic life in the locality.

According to Tran Viet The, Deputy Director of the Ha Giang Provincial Department of Industry and Trade, the province currently has 42 craft villages with 2,394 households participating in the crafts, generating jobs for 9,713 workers with incomes averaging VND3.5-4 million per person, and creating the production value of about VND149.76 billion.

With the support of local authorities, craft villages have developed, contributing to economic growth and social security in the province.

However, Tran Viet The said industry promotion activities in the locality still reveal certain limitations. Specifically, due to the lack of specialized industry promotion officials at the district level, the collection of information about the demand of craft villages remains ineffective. Craft villages still lack skilled workers and have limited financial capacity. Moreover, they meet numerous difficulties in completing procedures required for project implementation.

Due to poor transport and communications infrastructure, it’s difficult to implement projects in remote areas during the stormy and rainy season. Industry promotion projects have yet to enable craft villages to tap their potential and bring into play their advantages.

The provincial industry and trade sector will take various measures to promote the development of craft villages and improve the quality of their products.

Specifically, the sector will integrate industry promotion into other target programs in order to increase financial support for these projects and enhance their effectiveness. The coordination between provincial industry promotion officials and those in charge of economic affairs and infrastructure development management at the district level will be strengthened to facilitate the implementation of industry promotion projects.

Priority will be given to craft villages creating products which are the strengths of Ha Giang Province, environmentally friendly products, and products made with new technology. Craft villages will continue to be supported in building technical demonstration models, applying advanced equipment to production, building brands, designing product packaging, and participating in fairs and exhibitions.
