Data from the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Agency for Regional Industry and Trade (ARIT) show that VND42.48 billion or 41.8 percent of the VND101.65-billion industry promotion funding allocated for 20 southern provinces and cities in 2023 has already been invested in the first eight months of this year, 26.8 percent more than the same period last year.

The financial support was mainly poured into technical demonstration model construction, technology transfer and application of advanced machinery and equipment.

In the first eight months of 2023, 59 rural industrial establishments in the 20 southern provinces and cities accessed industry promotion assistance for advanced machinery and equipment application, while four other facilities in the localities received support for repairing and upgrading environmental pollution treatment systems.

Industry promotion projects/programs in southern localities also helped the development of rural industrial products, industrial clusters and high-quality human resources, as well as the improvement of rural producers’ management capacity.

According to the ARIT, industry promotion activities in the southern localities vary, while the South has become the biggest region in Vietnam in terms of numbers of provinces/cities having built key, quality national industry promotion projects that can help bring into play local sources of raw materials.

Many localities in the region have developed district- and commune-level industry promotion collaborator networks to improve the quality of projects and better meet the actual development demands. Industrial promotion education and information dissemination have been strengthened efficiently, and digitization has greatly helped this.
