AmCham Vietnam awards scholarships for female students studying in STEM

2023 marks the 11th year of AmCham Women in Engineering Scholarship (ACWES). First held in 2011, ACWES has successfully awarded 515 scholarships for female students, with 5 billion and 30 million VND in cash awarded, along with opportunities to approach and work with businesses in STEM fields.

In 2023, the program targets female bachelor’s degree students at their last two academic years of their undergraduate program at universities in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Dong Nai, and Binh Duong. These students achieved the highest results throughout the assessment rounds. The groups of major eligible for the program include: electrical & electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, biotechnology, environmental engineering, information technology, material technology, applied sciences, and industrial engineering.

The universities with students attending ACWES 2023 include: HCMC University of Technology and Education; Industrial University of HCMC; International University – Vietnam National University HCMC; RMIT University; Ton Duc Thang University; University of Technology – Vietnam National University HCMC; Dong Nai Technology University; Lac Hong University; Eastern International University; Vietnamese-German University; The University of Danang – University of Science and Technology.

ACWES is a part of the community activities from AmCham and AmCham members operating in manufacturing, engineering, and training in order to support and develop female human resources in high-tech fields in Vietnam. The assessment process for ACWES includes 3 rounds: application form screening, English test, and interview with HR specialists from AmCham member companies and partners.
