Rice exports up

Vietnam exported more than 5.35 million tonnes of rice worth almost US$2.9 billion from January 1 to August 15

According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam exported 4.9 million tonnes of rice worth more than US$2.6 billion in the first seven months of 2023, an increase of more than 20 percent in volume and 31 percent plus in value over the same period last year. The average export price was US$534.7 per tonne.

In the first half of August, Vietnam exported 456,768 tonnes of rice worth more than US$266 million, bringing the total to more than 5.35 million tonnes worth almost US$2.9 billion in the period from January 1 to August 15, an increase of 17 percent in volume and nearly 35 percent in value compared to the same period last year. The average export price reached US$538.7/tonne, higher than the average export price of the first seven months of the year.
