The event will take place on Saturday, October 14th in Ho Chi Minh City and Sunday, October 15th in Ha Noi, bringing together over 30 leading New Zealand education providers and the participation of experts, celebrities, alumni, and parents of students studying in New Zealand.
The popularity of New Zealand among Vietnamese students was evident again in 2022 with enrolment data showing they became the largest source of international students from Southeast Asia, with two thirds of Vietnamese students attending courses at one of its 8 universities. Secondary education in New Zealand witnessed a record-breaking 80% growth during 2017 to 2019, and it is experiencing a strong recovery after the country opened its borders.
As a country whose universities all ranked among the Top 500 best worldwide, and consistently leading English-speaking countries in preparing students for the future, New Zealand has become a highly sought-after destination for international students, garnering significant attention from parents and learners at various educational levels. For example, the New Zealand Education Day at the end of 2022 welcomed over 1,000 participants in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, and the New Zealand Future Skills Camp 2023 attracted 850 registered students.
Being an annual event, the New Zealand Education Day 2023 will refresh itself with new initiatives, integrating a range of exciting activities, alternating between experiential and one-on-one counselling.
Attendees will have access to the latest information from the government and education providers, especially the study visa policies from Immigration New Zealand. Additionally, there will be a variety of scholarships available for different levels of study, including government scholarships, individual school scholarships, and special offers for Master's and PhD students.
Each learner will have the opportunity to engage in direct exchanges and in-depth counselling on their chosen field of study with representatives from 30 different types of educational institutions, including secondary schools, foundation programs, colleges, universities, postgraduate programs, and English language courses. Furthermore, attendees can register for one-on-one consultations with alumni students to inquire about their experiences in preparing for studying abroad, real-life experiences in the academic environment, and social life in New Zealand.
Additionally, within the New Zealand Education Day 2023 framework, workshops around topics of great interest to both parents and students will be held. The topic "How to invest in your child's study abroad?" will discuss new perspectives on investing in a child's future, the paths parents need to know, tips for early preparation for children studying abroad, and effective guidance when children study far from home.
Participants in the event will also have the opportunity to experience mini-games, practice tests, free English language proficiency assessments, and receive attractive gifts from internationally recognized English language training providers.
The New Zealand’s Ambassador to Vietnam, Tredene Dobson said, "New Zealand's education system places a strong emphasis on the holistic development of learners, encouraging creativity and independent thinking, as well as equipping them with both knowledge and the necessary skills to adapt and succeed in an ever-changing world. The New Zealand Education Day 2023 will provide Vietnamese parents and students with insights into how New Zealand education trains future generations to become outstanding individuals, not only in Vietnam but globally."
Ben Burrowes, Regional Director, Asia at Education New Zealand, said, "If you are looking for a reputable and promising educational environment, New Zealand is undoubtedly an excellent choice. This is confirmed by sharing from New Zealand Embassy about recent surveys, which show that up to 86% of Vietnamese international students express satisfaction with their study experience in New Zealand. Through this event, we also hope to offer parents and Vietnamese learners a closer look at New Zealand's advanced education system – a place that not only provides ideal learning conditions but also allows you to explore new opportunities and personal development."
