Canton Fair to strengthen trade relations between Vietnamese and Chinese businesses

The 134th Canton Fair will be held on October 15, 2023, both online and offline. The event is expected to open up many trade opportunities and strengthen the connection between Vietnamese and Chinese businesses.

The Canton Fair is regarded as the largest international trade and economic event in China for the second half of this year.

Items displayed in the fair include: machines and equipment; motorcycle spare & parts; bicycles; chemical products; construction machine (outdoor); household electrical appliances; electrical products and electronic components; computer; telecommunications equipment; lamps and lighting devices; decorative and construction materials; bathroom and sanitary equipment; kitchen utensils and tableware; types of ceramics; glass products; furniture; bamboo and rattan and embroidery; horticultural products; iron and stone products (outdoor); personal care, toilet-bathroom items, clocks; glasses; toys; present; souvenirs; products for the festival; clothes; leather products; feathers; fashion accessories and supplies; fabrics, yarns, textile materials, carpets; food and beverages of all kinds; pharmaceutical products; medical instruments; sports and tourism goods; stationery; shoes - sandals of all kinds; hats, suitcases and bags.

Mr. Xu Feng Pei, Representative of Guangdong Enterprise Confederation, Chinese Business Association in Vietnam, said: “The Canton fair has become one of the international exhibitions highly appreciated and enthusiastically participated by Vietnamese businesses. The fair is also the foundation for the common development of Chinese and Vietnamese businesses. We hope that through Canton Fair's platform, many Vietnamese products will be introduced to China market, and many Chinese brands will be introduced to Vietnam market.”

The 134th Canton Fair exhibition area is expected to reach 1.55 million square meters. There are 55 exhibition areas and about 74,000 booths. It is estimated that more than 35,000 businesses will participate in the online and offline exhibition.

Mr. Zhang Sihong, Vice President of China Foreign Trade Centre, said: “ Vietnamese businesses are regular visitors of the Canton Fair. Approximately 4,000 Vietnamese buyers participate in each Canton Fair. We believe that with the deepening cooperation between the two countries, and through the joint efforts of all parties, more Vietnamese enterprises will participate in the Canton Fair this autumn. At the same time, we will also actively organize the participation of the Chinese buyers groups to bring in more new orders for Vietnamese businesses.” “We carefully select excellent Chinese companies with high quality products to help Vietnamese companies gain more good partners. In the future, we hope to welcome more Vietnamese businesses to Canton Fair, together with us to achieve win-win cooperation,” he added.

According to Mr. Vo Tan Thanh, Vice President of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), in terms of trade relations, China continues to be the largest trading partner among 200 countries and territories that have import-export relations with Vietnam. Vietnam is currently China's largest trading partner in the ASEAN region and the eighth largest in the world. Bilateral trade turnover between Vietnam and China has always reached over 100 billion USD in the past 3 years. In 2022, the two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and China increased by 6% over the same period in 2021, reaching over 175.5 billion USD. As of March 2023, China is always in the top 10 largest investors in Vietnam.

During the past years, VCCI has also continuously organized for Vietnamese import business delegations to visit, look for sources of raw materials, machinery and equipment, etc. to serve production activities, and strengthen business relations with Chinese partners at this fair.
