Song Ma longan meets stringent criteria for food safety and quality and has been recognized and approved by export partners. This is a result of the collaboration and concentrated efforts by authorities as well as the unrelenting efforts of Song Ma farmers in elevating the quality of their products and solidifying their position in the international market.

The district has 48 longan cultivation areas granted with production unit codes (PUCs).

The application of modern cultivation techniques, high quality seeds and professional cultivation and harvest processes, as well as the satisfaction of food safety and hygiene standards, and attainment of certifications have helped Song Ma longan producers and providers gain foreign partners’ trust.

In 2023, Song Ma reached an output of more than 70,000 tonnes of fresh longan, 900 tonnes of which are expected to be exported and 7,000 tonnes sold domestically.

Nguyen Tien Hai, Vice Chairman of Song Ma District People’s Committee, said the district will grow longan in accordance with VietGAP (Vietnamese Good Agricultural Practices) standards, apply high and digital technologies, preliminarily process and pack products for export, and help cooperatives and farmer households gain VietGAP and OCOP (One Commune One Product) certifications.

The district will strengthen longan promotion through trade fairs and exhibitions inside and outside the province, and develop safe products of known origin and origin traceability.

China, the EU and the UK are the largest and most competitive markets for agricultural imports, requiring stringent standards. Therefore, the success of Song Ma longan export is the pride of Song Ma District in particular and the country’s agricultural sector in general.
