Minister receives Head of EU delegation to Vietnam

At the meeting, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien highly appreciated the valuable support and active contribution of the ambassador to the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and the EU, especially the acceleration of the ratification and implementation of the EVFTA.

The two sides also expressed optimism as the two-way trade exchange in recent years has recorded remarkable growth.

Ambassador Giorgio Aliberti attributed his importance to the rapid and effective development in bilateral economic and trade relations and emphasized the importance of energy cooperation, shown in the implementation of the Sustainable Energy Transition Program (SETP) and the promotion of the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP).

Regarding cooperation in the energy sector, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien highly appreciated the EU’s active support in Vietnam’s energy development plan to maximize resources from international organizations and partners for the sustainable development of Vietnam’s energy industry and energy transition, contributing to the effective implementation of Vietnam’s commitments in the COP26.

Minister Dien said that the effective implementation of the JETP will be one of the important solutions for the energy transition in Vietnam and proposed that the EU develop specific financial packages to support Vietnam to implement energy transition effectively, focusing on policy advisory; human resource training; supporting Vietnamese enterprises to master new technologies, production of electrical equipment, and cleaner new fuels for energy transition such as hydrogen, green ammonia, and building smart grids, etc.

To conclude the meeting, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien affirmed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to closely coordinate in carrying out cooperation programs of the two sides in the coming time, especially in the field of energy and the implementation of the EVFTA.

Minister Nguyen Hong Dien congratulated Ambassador Giorgio Aliberti on a successful working term in Vietnam and hoped the Ambassador would always pay attention to and support the good and promising cooperation relations between Vietnam and the EU.
