Develop disease-free livestock production chains and areas

The agreement sets out the goal of successfully building a chain of chicken production facilities and disease-free poultry production areas according to the regulations of the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH/OIE), specifically safe for diseases and food safety (such as avian influenza, Newcastle disease, Salmonella) to ensure sustainable livestock development, improve product value, provide safe products for domestic consumption, meet international demand for the export of poultry products.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien said that the prevention and control of livestock and poultry diseases in recent years has achieved many good results, basically controlled dangerous diseases in livestock herds. This creates favorable conditions for livestock development. Poultry flocks have an average growth rate of over 6.3% over the past 5 years, total flocks reach more than 550 million heads; ensure food supply for domestic consumption, promote export and protect human health.

Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien also said that despite the positive results in building safety and disease-free chain and area, the risk of disease in livestock herds in the coming time is still high; the construction of facilities and disease-free zones is still limited; There are no facilities or areas of disease-free complying with the standards of the World Organization for Animal Health.

Therefore, provinces and cities need to direct specialized agencies, localities and cooperates operating in local provinces and cities to organize a thorough study of Vietnam's regulations, regulations of the World Organization for Animal Health and requirements of importing countries to develop specific plans and build safety and disease-free husbandry chain and area for the purpose of exporting.

Mr. Johan van den Ban - General Director of De Heus Vietnam Co., Ltd. said that being aware of the importance of developing safety and disease-free breeding chain and area with an aim to bring safe and high-standard products, over the years, De Heus has been cooperating with partners and farmers to develop safety and disease-free breeding chains and areas to develop export markets, and improve the value of the livestock industry.
