Strong spread of research, high-tech application

(VEN) - The strong spread of research, investment and application of high technology from industrial to agricultural sectors, from large corporations to small businesses and cooperatives has brought high socioeconomic efficiency.

Golden key for agriculture to make breakthroughs

Since 2008, when the project “Concentrated dairy farming and milk processing on a high-tech industrial scale” worth US$1.2 billion was launched in Nghe An Province, TH Group has applied green technologies with high intellectual contents and latest technologies to dairy farming so as to utilize resources in the most efficient manner.

For example, TH farms applied Afifarm-Israel herd management technology, including a pedometer chip. The chip is worn on the cow’s leg, collecting a lot of information about the health status which helps predict diseases cows contract. Thanks to this technology, the cost of managing and raising cows has been reduced to an optimal level while the highest quality of milk is guaranteed.

Another example of high-tech agriculture production is Tan Minh Duc Cooperative in Pham Tran Commune, Gia Loc District, Hai Duong Province, which specializes in growing melons in membrance houses. Since it started operation in 2007 with an initial scale of only 5,000 sq.m, so far the cooperative has built 15.5 hectares of membrance houses, earning a revenue of about VND2.5 billion per ha and net profit of VND1.2 billion per ha.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, there are about 290 agricultural enterprises applying high technology to production in Vietnam, including 126 enterprises in the cultivation sector, 88 enterprises in the animal husbandry sector, 68 others in the fishery sector and eight in the forestry sector. In addition, the country has about 690 agricultural production areas, of which over 70 percent meet the criteria for high-tech agricultural areas and there are nearly 2,000 cooperatives applying high technology.

Capability in mastering high technology affirmed

In November 2023, Viettel High Technology Industries Corporation (Viettel High Tech) and PT. Bandara Praniagatama of Indonesia signed an agreement on the distribution of a flight command and cockpit training simulation system in Indonesia. The system offers comprehensive pilot training in diverse weather conditions and terrains. Compared to training on actual aircraft systems, this simulation system reduces costs by hundreds of times and minimizes the number of personnel involved by dozens of times.

This is just the latest example confirming the capacity of domestic units in research and mastery of high technologies.

Other achievements of high-tech research in the industrial sector include the successful manufacture of cranes with load capacity of 1,200 tonnes at Son La Hydropower Plant; the design and manufacture of drilling rigs in the water depths of 90 and 120 meters; manufacture of transformers up to 500 kV; increase in the technology content of sleeper buses to 78 percent and in the Regional Value Content of passenger cars to 61 percent.

In addition, domestic units have researched, designed, manufactured and successfully operated a large capacity coal screening plant (two million tonnes a year) with a modern monitoring system; and supplied electrostatic precipitation filter systems (ESP) of European standards for Vung Ang 1 and Thai Binh 1 Thermal Power Plants.

There are now four high tech parks in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang City and Dong Nai Province.
